Kristi Waits is a justice data expert with experience in data collection, exchange, synthesis, analysis, and reporting since 1997. During that time, she has developed a variety of data collection and reporting tools for local, state, and federal justice projects. She most recently served as the Wisconsin Statistical Analysis Center Director. Prior to that, she worked as Deputy Director for the Wisconsin Sentencing Commission, as Associate Director for Data and Analysis for the Maryland Commission on Criminal Sentencing Policy, and as a data and information specialist for the Justice Research and Statistics Association. In addition, Kristi spent some time in the private sector working at the accounting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers on several fraud analysis projects. Her state reports include work on disproportionate minority representation in Wisconsin and statistical analyses of sentencing practices in Maryland. Kristi holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in criminal justice administration from San Diego State University and California State University at San Bernardino, respectively.
